Exit 10 | Yellow Springs, Ohio
Road trippin’ to kick it with Dave Chappelle
Where the f**k is Yellow Springs, Ohio?
Slap in the middle nowhere between Dayton and Columbus, you got this little country pocket called Yellow Springs that doesn’t try to impress you, it just lets you discover it. You roll down those tree-lined roads and feel it before you can explain it, the air opens up, the pace eases back, and the people carry that mix of freedom, intention, and quiet depth that lets you know you somewhere different.
I’ve been blessed to call Dave Chappelle a friend, so when he started building something out there during the pandemic, I paid attention. What he turned into The Firehouse wasn’t just a vanity venue, it was a statement of what Dave represents. It came out of real passion, real debate, real community tension, and that matters, because anything worth building is gonna get tested before it stands tall. The fact that it used to be a fire station just feels right, because that place had to go through a little fire to become what it is now.
When I touched that stage, it didn’t feel like a tour stop, it felt like being back in a room where the work actually matters. No distractions, no industry noise, just people locked in on the craft. That’s where the energy started building between me and Dave, where conversations turned into ideas and ideas turned into motion, and before long we took that same spirit on the road together. That Still Talk’n That Shit run didn’t come out of nowhere, it came out of nights in Yellow Springs where creativity had space to breathe and grow.
That’s what makes that town special, it gives you room to reset without losing your edge. You can laugh, you can build, you can sit with your thoughts long enough to hear something real. So if you make that trip and take Exit 10, don’t treat it like a getaway, treat it like a check-in with yourself. Yellow Springs has a way of showing you what you’ve been too busy to notice, and once you lock into that, you carry it with you long after you roll out.
